The article notes that in 2006 People magazine published a People Extra titled Babies of the Year.

Baby Proofing Advice

We’ve got two types of child proof door knobs in our home.  Why two?  We were in a bind and the store that we went too, didn’t have the same kind that we already had in our home.  So, I bought them…and we HATE them.  Look at these child proof door knobs.

Child Proof Door Knobs 1

They’re great because you just press in the two circles on the sides and twist.  Just grip it and twist it.  Easy for the adult, hard for the child.

Now, look at these child proof door knobs.

Child Proof Door Knobs 2

They’re terrible because you have to grip the door knob in the two holes provided.  First of all, good luck if your fingers are a bit big.  Secondly, what if your fingers are wet?  This is likely since you are always washing your hands after changing diapers.  Hard for the adult, hard for the child.

Choose wisely when you buy child proof door knobs. In this case, it’s best to spend the extra $4.00. :-)
