Free Stationary!

October 2, 2008

vistaprint Free Stationary!Sound too good to be true?  Well, it’s not.  A couple of years ago a friend of mine introduced me to VistaPrint.  VistaPrint has a wide variety of invitations, announcements, note cards, mailing address labels and more.  With a little bit of patience and manuevering through their website, you can order a handful of stationary products at literally no cost (except for shipping and handling.)

Visit their website and check out their “Free” Section.  Personally, I love the notecards.  And when the notecards are free, you can order both the flat and folded notecards.  The key is to only take advantage of their 10 free notecards.  (You can order more, but it will cost you).  As you design your card and continue towards the shopping cart, say “no” to all the options they encourage you to purchase.  Once you get to your shopping cart, you can choose to “continue shopping” and go back to the homepage and order more items from the free section.

I’ve found that if I order one item (envelopes are cheap) my shipping and handling costs drop dramatically.  I just ordered birthday invitations for my son, matching thank you notes, and a few cute cards for me (you can put your name on the card and it looks like it came from a nice paper boutique).

Here are some helpful hints and ideas for using Vista Print:

1. Order the free postcards (you get 50) and use them as Christmas cards.  Write a little update letter to your family and friends and glue it to the back of the postcard.  Include a picture if you want and you’ve got 50 Christmas cards at a very reasonable price!  You can order envelopes that will fit the postcard for around $5.00 and this helps bring your shipping and handling cost down.

2. Be patient.  Don’t try to place your order while your kids are awake.  This is a naptime activity.  There are so many choices that you’ll want at least 20-30 minutes to place your order.

3. Use their free business cards as contact cards.  You know, the ones where you put your name and phone number, kids name and ages and you can pass them out to new moms that you meet so you can get together for playdates.  The business cards are also great for gift tags.  Choose a cute design, put your name or your kids name on the card and you have a custom made gift tag!

4. As you are creating your cards, double check everything before you move onto the next page.  If they offer you 20 notecards for $10, make sure you have checked 10 notecards for free.  When designing cards, make sure the inside of the card is in black and white or blank - they charge for color.

5.  FYI…sometimes my order arrives in phases.  Notecards one day.  Address labels the next day.  Not too sure why this happens, but don’t freak out if all your items are not in the first box that arrives.

If you take your time and play around, you can get a lot of free items from VistaPrint.  And the great thing is, once you place an order, they send you updates all the time with other amazing free deals.  It really does work and their products are wonderful!  Enjoy!
