Every since daylight savings time a few weeks ago our two year old has been waking up entirely too early. When I say too early, I’m talking 5:45a.m., and for a night owl like myself, it makes for an exhausting day. It wouldn’t be that big of a problem if he played in his room for an hour instead of screaming for us and if our one year old’s bedroom wasn’t right next to his. Needless to say, we’re in the market for a product that will help us solve this problem.
So, as I was doing some research I ran across the Good Nite Light. The Good Nite Lite is a behavioral modification device designed to promote a child’s ability (and parents) to get the rest that is critical for healthy development.
If a child is in the habit of waking up at a certain time, they will tend to continue this regular pattern until it is reset. Unfortunately, if the established pattern is to wake up too early, the result is a that a child will become active on their own schedule which interferes with their own healthy sleep pattern and can be a disruptive influence to the entire household particularly Mom and Dad! It can be extremely difficult to modify this pattern without a visual cue that can be easily understood by even very young children. The Good Nite Lite provides exactly this behavioral cue with its easily distinguished display of the Moon, meaning, “time to rest” and Sun display meaning “time to get up!”.
Here’s how it works: You preset the times that you want the moon to shine and the sun to shine. The child learns that they are not to get up until the sun shines. We don’t have it yet, but plan on ordering it shortly so we can get some much needed rest. Check out the Good Nite Lite.
