I received this email the other day and think it speaks for itself.  If you’ve ever tried to manage multiple kids in the grocery store parking lot, you’ll know what I’m talking about.  Read on for a safety product worth purchasing:

Parking Pal 1

My name is Denise Whitney, my occupation is a RN and for the past 10 years I have worked in labor and delivery helping bring children into the world.  I’m 36 years old and the mother of 3 young boys. Taking my kids shopping always posed a significant safety problem in parking lots. With drivers of SUVS and other large vehicles having an increasingly difficult time seeing young children around their vehicle, and children rarely paying attention to their surroundings, there was a real potential for injury to children in parking lots. I continued to think about ways to keep my boys safer in the parking lot situation. Along with the birth of my third child in 2006, came the birth of the Parking Pal.

The Parking Pal is placed on the side of your vehicle and can remain there. It was   specifically designed with bright colors, playful illustration and a small palm children love to place their hand on. With a couple of learning sessions the child will discover this is their safe spot the second they step out of their vehicle or upon returning to the vehicle. It also helps teach them responsibility in parking lots and around moving vehicles.

Loading or unloading packages, rifling for keys, tending to the baby, or any number of things can and will distract us away from our children in parking lots.  It’s a disastrous combination, and it only takes seconds for a tragedy to occur.

I help bring children into the world and I want to help keep them safer. Injury and deaths are happening to children in parking lots. Parents need to be made aware that any parking lot could be an unsafe and potentially dangerous place for their children. I am hoping the Parking Pal will heighten their awareness, and also keep their children safer.
