What is RSS?
What is RSS? Many people keep asking what RSS is, so we thought it might be a good idea to add a page explaining what RSS really is.
Are you wanting to stay up-to-date on the latest posts from Popular Baby Products?
We offer many ways for you to stay connected and read the latest content that we offer. You could ‘bookmark’ our page in your browser (or set it as your homepage), but this method is becoming more and more out of date. The problem with ‘bookmarking’ is that you have to manually return to your bookmarked sites. This creates a problem because you might miss out on the latest content if you forget to manually check each site, and you might waste your time visiting the bookmarked site if they haven’t updated their content.
RSS changes all of that! Technically speaking, RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. But for you Oprah fans out there, in Oprah speak, RSS stands for: I’m “Ready for Some Stories”. Simply put, RSS is a way for you to get a fast list of the latest story headlines from all of your favorite websites and blogs all in one place. Pretty cool, eh? A partial screenshot of what RSS looks like is below. The content is updated as frequently as you’d like.
How do you use RSS? First, you need to sign up for an RSS Reader. There are many to choose from, but I prefer, and use, Google Reader. It’s free and simple to use. The screenshot above is from Google Reader. Then, sign up for some feeds and start playing around with it. You can subscribe to our feed to get a feel for how it works.
Still not comfortable with RSS? You can also subscribe to Popular Baby Products content via email. We know that not everyone is into the RSS thing so at the top of our right hand sidebar there is a field where you can enter your email address and get a daily email with a summary of our latest posts. Or you can subscribe to our daily email on this page. You can unsubscribe at any time and your email will be kept private and not used for any other purposes than to send these daily updates.
